About Barend Cornelis Koekkoek

Koekkoek, Barend Cornelis (1803 - 1862), He was one of a large family of painters. He travelled extensively through Belgium and Germany, where he found inspiration for the Romantic views of forest and mountains which he painted in a precise and detailed style, often with rosy light effects recalling the work of Jan Both. He was especially influenced by Hobbema, but specialized in forest and mountain scenes. Other members of his large and prolific family specialized mainly in seascapes.
